THOUGHTS FROM OUR HEAD OF SCHOOL, JOSEPH VORBACH:
This week was teacher appreciation week, a chance to be especially mindful of the gifts and talents that our teachers bring to the vocation of Catholic education every day of the school year.
A beautiful way to be reminded of the blessings of our teachers was through a process set up in the school that allowed students to give a teacher a "Shout Out." The student comments are an incredibly powerful testimonial about the profound impact Catholic school teachers have on their students. A small sampling of the students' comments makes the point:
- "...She cares so deeply about her students and is just one of the best teachers I have ever had."
- "...When I would show an interest in her lessons, she would invest time in teaching me more. And more personally, when my family was going through hard times, she would pray for me and offer love, comfort, and support."
- "... He explains things thoroughly and not only makes sure every voice is heard respectively, but also that everyone understands the material."
- "...Thank you for all of your help explaining difficult concepts! I have learned so much from you and have had so much fun learning."
- "...The most patient, compassionate, well put together, kind, and confident teacher I have ever met. She is incredibly inclusive and loves all her students.
- "...She genuinely cares about the entire well-being of the student, including their morals."
- "... He is always there to help his students and makes sure they do the absolute best in class. He does this by trying different teaching methods to see which one works best for each student."
- "...Her empathy, passion, and faith is what makes her a great teacher. I have my fingers crossed to get her next year. Being my club moderator, I'm lucky to have gotten the chance to meet her."
We also celebrated School Nurse Appreciation Day on Wednesday. Our school nurse, Mrs. Berset, is another blessing to our school community and we enjoyed giving her a special salute on Wednesday.
This week was also the first week of AP testing, another sign of spring that is marked by clusters of students doing last minute studying and their teachers offering final words of encouragement.
