Bishop O'Connell High School is pleased to announce that Sister Lorraine McGrew, IHM, has been appointed by Bishop Burbidge to serve as the interim Head of School for the 2019-2020 school year. Sister Lorraine fills the role vacated by Dr. Joseph Vorbach after he was named the new Superintendent of Schools for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.
Sister Lorraine's experience as the General Superior of the IHM Community from 2012-2018 will be a great benefit to the school. "I am familiar with the rich history and tradition of Bishop O'Connell and I am please to serve as the interim Head of School for the 2019-2020 school year," she said. "The energy and enthusiasm of the O'Connell community are well known. I look forward to working with the team at the school, the Board of Governors and the Diocese to maintain this spirit and continue its forward progress during the search for a permanent Head of School. May Mary, our Mother, watch over us and guide our efforts."
Bishop Burbidge stated, "We are very grateful that Sister Lorraine can bring her talent, experience and faithful witness to the O'Connell community at this important time in the school's history."
"I look forward to working with Sister Lorraine," said Dr. Vorbach. "She brings tremendous experience in management and education which will be essential to stability and consistency over the coming year."
