New Men's Crew Coach Named

Coach Lisa DornBishop O’Connell High School has named Lisa Dorn as the head coach of the men’s rowing team.

Coach Dorn most recently served as the assistant coach for Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, Calif. She is USRowing Level 2 Certified, American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED trained, and holds National Federation of High School Coaches Certifications for: Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Concussion in Sports and Fundamentals of Coaching.

She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Master's Degree in Computer Information Systems from the University of San Diego, where she was a four year varsity rower. Her team was a Crew Classic Cal Cup Champions and undefeated City Champions. 

For 21 years, Coach Dorn worked as a Systems Engineer in the defense industry while intermittently coaching rowing for University of California San Diego and ZLAC Rowing Club Masters—the oldest women’s rowing club in the nation. She has experience competing nationally and internationally in masters rowing events.

“It was evident in the interview that we had an experienced coach with vast experience in the sport,” said Athletic Director Joe Wootten. “What was even more evident was the importance she places on the student experience through sport. We look forward to what she will bring to our O’Connell rowing program.”
