THOUGHTS FROM OUR HEAD OF SCHOOL, JOSEPH VORBACH:
A little less than an hour ago, Mr. Patton and I said goodbye to Bishop Burbidge after his day-long visit that began with school Mass and Bishop's homily, as we approach Holy Week, encouraging us to "let go of the stones" that symbolize us rejecting God's love and, rather, open our hands and raise our palms out to receive God's love.
The Bishop's visit gave him an opportunity to interact with several groups of students of all grades, to have lunch with our newest teachers, to hear about our efforts to strengthen further the integration of our Catholic mission across the curriculum, and to enjoy, just before he left, a beautiful mini-concert from our choir.
This second full-day visit of the Bishop this year is a chance to reflect on how blessed we are in this Diocese to have so much support for Catholic education, support that includes full time chaplains at all of the high schools, a blessing we do not take for granted.
Tomorrow morning is our Better Together 5K to support expanded services at our school! There are still limited opportunities to sign up and participate if the spirit moves you: www.bishopoconnell.org/5k.
