This year, a colder than average winter may be on the horizon for the Northern Virginia area. At O’Connell, The Annual Christ House Soup collects thousands of cans each year to help feed those suffering in these cold and impoverished conditions. This year, our goal is to collect 15,000 cans of soup which equals 15,000 meals for the poor and hungry. There are only 3 days left to help contribute to the Christ House Soup Drive, so bring in those cans and let’s help feed those in need! As an added incentive, the advisory with the most cans wins a donut breakfast! Remember any soup that is a “meal in a can” is acceptable. Progresso, Safeway or Giant Brand, Chunky, Campbell’s Home Style… it’s mmm mmm good! Thank you so much!
Hey Freshmen! Are you interested in making a difference in an important leadership position this year? If you nodded “Yes” run for an SCA class officer position this November! Attention all freshman and sophomore students: On October 31st there is a huge Stop Hunger Now event in our local area. See the flyer on the Christian Service Office window to sign up for a shift! This is a great way to help the hungry in our local area!
This Wednesday, the day before the Living Rosary and the end to our Soup Drive, DJO will be spooked and haunted. Come in your favorite, appropriate Halloween costume.  O’Connell kids… FYI… this does not mean sweatshirts and sweat pants. Nope, dressing like an O’Connell basketball, football, baseball, hockey, or soccer player is neither original nor Halloweeney. Get your scare on. Those students who are not participating will be wearing their uniforms… and not your Brittany Spears version of your school uniform. Hello. Let’s go DJO, keep it classy and have some fun.
