Congratulations to the Bishop O'Connell softball team who clinched the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) Division 1 championship for the 20th time in 22 years.
The Lady Knights entered the state tournament as the No. 1 seed and shut out Liberty Christian, 5-0, in the semifinal game on Thursday, May 14, before defeating Paul VI in the title game, 5-2, the next day.
Olivia Giaquinto, Shannon Murphy and Erin Sweeney were named to the First Team All-State Team.
Patty Maye Ohanian was named the 2015 VISAA Player of the Year.
Head Coach Tommy Orndorff was named the 2015 VISAA Coach of the Year.
