This week is National World Language Week! It was inaugurated in 1957 by Sister Eloise Therese, the president of the Alpha Mu Gamma. Through her efforts of Sigma chapter at Mount Saint Mary's College, the week of February 16-22 was proclaimed at "National World Language Week" by President Dwight Eisenhower. The week has been celebrated annually across the United States with the goal of increasing the American student’s awareness of the validity and necessity for foreign language study. The official theme for the year 2015 is: “Learn a Foreign Language, Gain a New Perspective”

Bishop O’Connell has the following activities planned this week: morning prayers offered in different languages with a daily “did you know…?” (Interesting facts about languages and cultures), an ethnic menu for the week, international music on Friday, and the World Language Honor Societies Induction Ceremony on Thursday, March 5, at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium! Everyone is welcome to attend.

Mass is being offered at 11:05 today, and confessions are after school. On Wednesday, Mass will be at 11:10 with confessions after school.

Registration continues for Superdance… now only one week away! The first 200 students who register this week will receive a Vineyard Vines tote! Registration takes place in the cafeteria during lunch on anchor days and every day after school!

Today, March 3rd the Young Women's Executive Club will have a meeting in Ms. Krista's room 122 right after school. If you have not paid your dues, please bring them to the meeting.

A reminder to members of Jazz Band to be on-time for this week... See you today and Thursday!

Thank you to all the teams who participated in the 3 on 3 basketball tournament on Saturday; it was a huge success! It is ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL that any teams that still owe money haven't paid already turn in their registration fee to Mr. Britt in Room 236

The Stock and Finance Club will meet after school on Wednesday at 3:00 PM in room 202. We will be talking about the Capital Hill Stock Challenge. New members are always welcome to attend.

Attention National English Honor Society juniors and seniors: The list of members in good standing in the Bishop O’Connell chapter of the National English Honor Society is posted outside of room 323. Please check the list: if you did not pay your initiation fee and did not attend the meeting, you are no longer considered a member. The mandatory induction ceremony is Wednesday evening, March 11. You will receive a formal invitation in your advisory. Remember: the induction ceremony next Wednesday evening is mandatory! Any questions, contact President Francesca Pastore or moderator Mrs. Cerniglia.

All those who want to DJ for Superdance on MARCH 14th please send in your mix to the SCA room by WEDNESDAY.

Be on the lookout for the 2015 Superdance Spirit Statues! They are red and blue painted statues with a Superdance pin attached to them. There are four statues which are hidden all over the school. If you find a Spirit Statue bring it to the SCA room to redeem a point for your advisory. GOOD LUCK!
