Adriana Vargas, a graduate of the class of 2013, was this year's recipient of the "Achieving Your Dream Scholarship" at Bishop O'Connell.
This is the third year that this $1,000 scholarship has been awarded. Any graduating senior at Bishop O'Connell is eligible to apply in the spring. Students submit an application, including an essay on the topic of "overcoming barriers to achieve the first step of my career goals - entry into college/university in Fall 2013." Academic performance, Catholic witness, and leadership achievements comprise the selection criteria.
Vargas will be attending George Washing University this fall, pursuing a major in international relations. Earlier this week, Dr. Joseph Vorbach, Head of School, presented Vargas the Achieving Your Dream Scholarship Award and a book featuring seminal international relations articles by distinguished Americans from his personal library.
