Just as we welcome a new group of freshmen and a few transfer students into our hallways, we are happy to welcome the following new classroom teachers to Bishop O'Connell High School:
Ryan Beck
Social Studies
Mr. Beck previously taught government and AP U.S. History at St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C. He also has a background teaching English and special education in Fairfax County Public Schools. Mr. Beck earned his bachelor’s degree in history from the State University of New York at Cortland.
Ron Isaacson
Band
Mr. Isaacson comes to O’Connell as a trombonist/low brass specialist, an instrumental conductor and a music educator in the Washington, D.C. area. He has also directed school and community musical theater productions. He earned a Bachelor of Music in music education from the Crane School of Music, SUNY-Potsdam, and his master’s degree from George Washington University.
Peter Kadeli
Chorus
Mr. Kadeli holds a Bachelor of Music in choral education and music composition from the George Mason University School of Music. He served as the choral director at Trinity School at Meadow View where he taught music theory and directed five high school choruses. Mr. Kadeli also enjoys directing the contemporary choirs at the Saint Robert Bellarmine Chapel in Fairfax and the Life Teen Choir at All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas.
Maretta Krista
Social Studies
Ms. Krista holds a bachelor’s degree in history from James Madison University and a Master of Education in secondary studies from Marymount University. She served as a student teacher in the social studies department at Bishop O’Connell in 2013, where she planned lessons and units, participated in professional development and departmental meetings and engaged students in the classroom on a daily basis.
Allison Lattie
Theology
Ms. Lattie received her bachelor’s degree in history from Franciscan University of Steubenville, where she served as student coordinator for the Student Evangelization Networking Teams and was actively involved in Students for Life and the Liturgical Music Ministry. After a year working with youth in Australia, she worked as the Youth Development Director for the Louisiana Right to Life and later as director for Crossroads Pro-Life. In 2014, she was a Susan B. Anthony’s List of Young Leaders nominee.
Mark O’Connor
Biology
Mr. O’Connor comes to Bishop O’Connell from Northern Virginia Community College where he taught biology, served as a mentor for his peers, and developed course material for a new biotechnology curriculum. He received his bachelor’s degree in biology and his master’s in bioinformatics from George Mason University.
Samuel Pell
Chemistry
Mr. Pell holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and classics from Cornell University, where he also worked as a research assistant in a nanoscience laboratory, researching the fundamental properties of grapheme. He spent nine months with the Dominican Order as a novice.
Matthew Rose
Theology
Mr. Rose is a 2004 graduate of Bishop O'Connell. He returns to his alma mater after having taught theology, English and social studies at several area Catholic middle schools. He holds a bachelor's degree in English and history, as well as a master's degree in systematic theology, from Christendom College.
Sara Zimmerman
Psychology and Theater
Ms. Zimmerman earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Master of Education from Marymount University. She was most recently in the classroom at Saint Ann Catholic School in Arlington, where she founded the school’s acting club. At Marymount, Ms. Zimmerman worked in student development and was president of the theater program for three years.
