During the month of August, four students from Bishop O'Connell participated in the 2014 Leadership Arlington Youth Program. Olivia Barksdale, Robert Burnham, Danny Schauf and Stephanie Semaan joined 24 other Arlington high school students in a two-week program that included visits to fifteen different non-profit organizations in the community. In the end, the group selected one of the organizations to be the recipient of a $1,000 grant from the Leadership Arlington program.
"We learned about the many needs in our local community," said senior Olivia Barksdale. "Being a leader means being aware of these needs and working with others to meet those needs."
"Participating in this program opened my eyes to new aspects of commuity leadership," added junior Robert Burnham.
