Congratulations to Bishop O'Connell junior, Jeff Joppich, who was recently named to the District 12 Honors Band.
More than 500 students from Arlington and Fairfax counties' public and private schools took part in the Saturday, Jan. 11 auditions at McLean High School. Students had to prepare and perform an etude, a chromatic scale and major scales before performing a sight reading piece on the spot. Joppich, who plays in the school's symphonic band and jazz ensemble was ranked 17th out of the 76 students auditioning for the trumpet section.
The District 12 Honors Band will rehearse Jan. 30 - Feb 1, ending with a concert at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Oakton High School in Vienna.
