Congratulations to the Bishop O'Connell seniors who were recently recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Patrick Gallagher (pictured above, front row, second from right) was named a Semifinalist and 10 other O'Connell students were named Commended Students based on their performance on the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. As a Semifinalist, Patrick will have the opportunity to compete for 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered next spring.
The Commended Students placed among the top five percent of seniors nationwide who took the 2020 PSAT/NMSQT. This year's Commended Students from O'Connell include:
